A Guide to Venice, California with Pressed Juicery's Hayden Slater

It makes perfect sense that Pressed Juicery, which sells almond milks, green juices, and enhanced waters by the boatful, is based in Los Angeles, California. Home to yoga studios, surfers, and vegan restaurants a’plenty, clean eating (and drinking) goes hand in hand with the beachfront city. Founder and CEO of Pressed Juicery Hayden Slater takes full advantage of the city’s healthy offerings, and shares his guide to his neighborhood of Venice, here.

Why did you choose Los Angeles, California to start Pressed Juicery?
L.A. is where my partners and I were all born and raised, and when we started our intent was really to make juice for our friends and family and share the love that we had for the product with others.

Do you have a morning routine?
I start my day by adding half a lemon and a splash of Braggs apple cider vinegar and honey to room temperature water, and these weird mineral drops that I honestly think are going to make me live forever. I take, like, 1,000 vitamins. For coffee, I'll go to Blue Bottle or I make my own with a splash of vanilla Ripple milk (pea protein milk—weird but delicious). I like the idea of coffee but really only drink like three to four sips. My workout is either boxing, a hike, or the gym—sometimes even pilates but not too often. I'd like to say I meditate but really I look at Instagram, then head to work.

When you want to escape the city, you head to...
I can’t tell you because others can’t know about it, but for readers sake I’ll say...Santa Barbara or Montecito.
